Authorities: Police Pursuit Of PA Man With Handgun Ends In Route 78 Crash

A Pennsylvania man was armed with two handguns when he sped away from police during a traffic stop and crashed on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Wednesday night, authorities said.

Erick Allen, 42, was stopped on Route 78 east near milepost 11.4 in Union Township for a violation around 8:50 p.m., NJ.com reports citing state police.

Allen, of York, PA, sped away when officers determined that he had a warrant for parole violations and crashed a short time later near milepost 13.4, the report said.

A search of Allen’s vehicle turned up two handguns and marijuana, the report said.

Allen sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at Morristown Medical Center before being charged with two counts of unlawful weapon possession, resisting arrest, obstruction and marijuana possession.

He was being held Thursday for local offenses as well as parole violations in NY.
